Film Developing And Scanning

We don’t process film, however, we do share a building with Photofusion who offer film developing and scanning services.

This means you can drop off your exposed rolls for processing and pick up some fresh film at the same time.

You can also develop film at home yourself. We stock everything you need. Just come see us to get started.

Film Developing

All films are hand-processed by Photofusion’s highly experienced darkroom technicians. They can develop both black and white film and C41 colour film. And are able to handle 35mm, 120 and 4×5 film formats.

There are three services available:

  • Process Only – They simply develop your film and you get your developed negatives back
  • Process And Scan – You get digital scans of your photos along with your developed negatives
  • Process And Contact – You get a darkroom contact sheet of your film with your developed negatives

Additionally, they can ‘pull’ or ‘push’ process your film for the additional fee per roll or sheet.

The normal turnaround time is three working days from drop off. For example, a film dropped off on Monday would be ready to collect on Wednesday. Although this may vary for large orders, or at particularly busy periods.

Film Scanning

All film scans are produced using professional quality Noritsu scanner. The jpeg images are delivered via wetransfer.com directly to your email inbox.

There are three scan resolutions available:

  • Low-res – 1500 pixels long edge (suitable for up to 6″ prints)
  • Mid-res – 3000 pixels long edge (suitable for up to 10″ prints)
  • High-res – 5000 pixels long edge (suitable for up to 15″ prints)

High-resolution scans can be supplied as tiff files. However, you will need to leave a suitable USB when you drop off your film as the files are too large to transfer.
