Ilford Multigrade Resin Coated Portfolio Paper Pearl 8×10 100 Sheets is a high-quality black and white darkroom paper. This is a paper made for printing in a traditional black and white darkroom.
With a new formula and a relaunch in 2021. Ilford Multigrade RC Portfolio is a premium double-weight resin coated (RC), variable contrast paper.
Importantly, it has the rigidity, weight, and premium quality feel of double-weight fibre-based papers. Alongside the ease of use, convenience and quick, flat drying characteristics that you get with all RC papers.
Emulates Fibre Based Paper
First, you will notice this newer RC emulsion closely emulates the image tone and performance of Ilford Multigrade Classic FB papers. So, it is now easier than ever to alternate between resin and fibre.
Next up, this paper has some of the best characteristics of both bases making it perfect for all printers. Great for students and beginners as well as experienced darkroom professionals. Everything you could want for those extra special, premium quality prints.
Warmer Base
This particular paper comes in a pearl finish. You get a subtle pearlescent surface that will help your images look sharp and clear with some added depth. Portfolio paper has the benefit of a slightly warmer base tint. So, you get better blacks for greater depth. As well as nice mid-grade spacing and more uniform contrast throughout the tonal range.
Multigrade
Ilford Multigrade is a variable contrast paper, which means that it is possible to get the full range of contrast from your negatives. Simply use with a multigrade enlarger and you can print from grade 00 through to 5. If you use it without any filters on your enlarger, it will come out as approximately grade 2 or 3.
