Sodium Thiosulphate Pentahydrate 500g

Sodium Thiosulphate Pentahydrate is a raw chemical for use in Alternative Processes. This is all you need to mix a “Hypo” fixer solution.

Fix will dissolve any unexposed silver halides. You can use this fix for both film and photographic paper.

It is known as Hypo because the original chemical name was Hyposulphite of Soda.

A basic formula is 750ml of warm water and 250g of Sodium Thiosulphate. Then top up with water to make 1L. We classify warm water as roughly 30°C.

You will need to give longer fix times than regular brand fix, such as Ilford and Tetenal, when you use hypo.
