Terms Of Engagement
Terms of Engagement is an ongoing work initiated by Kate Watson and Becky Warnock, reflecting on the language of collaboration and participation in socially engaged arts practices, with critical consideration of the usages and application of these terms.
This anthology – a collection of writing, learnings, interviews and creative responses – invites a range of UK-based artists, photographers and practitioners to unpack key terms around socially engaged practice and reflect on their own work and how key ideas are situated and understood and applied by those involved in the practice.
Responsive Process
Featuring contributions by Anthony Luvera, Nina Manandhar, Jamila Prowse, Anna Farley and many more involved in the first iteration of the project run in partnership with London College of Communication, this publication is a responsive process and creation of work that is the product of a collaborative exchange between contributors and editors.
Socially engaged photographic practice covers a broad spectrum of forms of engagement, pedagogies and modes of production. Rather than attempting to define its terminology, Terms of Engagement offers a range of perspectives that bring focus whilst also acting as points of departure for critical reflection on the language surrounding this continuously evolving field of practice.
