Lomography LomoChrome ’92 Film Review
Here is our Lomography LomoChrome ’92 Film Review. We shot a roll of Lomochrome ’92 XR 100-400 roll in a LomoApparat. So, check out our film test and see what you think.
Lomography has recently added to its LomoChrome range. Color ’92 is a unique colour-negative emulsion giving retro charm. For our Lomography LomoChrome Color ’92 Film Review, we decided to also try out the LomoApparat. We loaded up a roll and took it out around Brixton and Chancery Lane in London.
As with all the LomoChrome films, Color ’92 can be rated between 100 and 400 ISO. We went with 400 ISO for this review. The lighting conditions and different speeds combine to give you varying colours. We took this roll out on a decidedly gloomy day in December to see how it performed.
Retro Feel
Color ’92 is pitched as adding classic analogue character to any film shooting scenario. We would agree with that. The retro feel and obvious grain make it abundantly clear that the images are shot on film.
The only controls on LomoApparat are the Normal or Bulb settings. We left it on Normal using available light. As mentioned, it was a very overcast day, but we still got some good results. The low light led to some dramatic images. There is some detail in the shadows, but generally, it gets lost in the grain. This film talks about having good blues, reds and yellows. The yellowy, brown colour is very evident in the shadows, with nice-looking blues in the highlights.
LomoApparat
We enjoyed using the LomoApparat, a very pocketable 35mm camera with a wide 21mm lens. It was fun to have a wider lens for capturing cityscapes. It comes with a built-in flash, several lens attachments for various effects and an easy-to-use double-exposure switch. If you like that experimental Lomo look, definitely one to check out. We look forward to taking it out again to try out the special effects attachments.
Overall, the unique look of this film, combined with the wide LomoApparat lens, led to some distinctive images on a very dull day. It’s one we will be trying again, next time with more light!
