True Issue 06

True Photo Journal Issue 06 is a showcase for the unpublished personal projects of established and emerging photographers.

Unconstrained by commercial focus, it can set different parameters for the creative conversation between publication and contributor.

True Photo Journal Issue 06 has Jim Goldberg on a visit to China. It is an exploration of the narrative he found as an outsider experiencing the cultural and geographical enormity of the country for the very first time.

Then there is British-born Kalpesh Lathigra, with a document of Mumbai from a similar perspective. In this case, photographing the complex relationship with his ancestral homeland known only through memories handed down through his family.

Next, Arnaud Lajeunie and Georgia Pendlebury document summer in Burgundy through the eyes of three teenagers. None of whom had met before. Also, Thomas Albdorf presents a series of ‘found sculptures’ that are not quite what they seem.

Elsewhere in the issue, we see a selection of Brendan Freeman’s holiday snaps. You will also find Peter Puklus explore his personal outlook on social expectations and male obligations. And Jenna Westra presents a continuation of her ongoing project, ‘Atlas’.

There are unseen images from Jo Ann Callis, that stem from the same period as her enigmatic portfolio, Early Color. The images show constructed everyday moments subtly charged with pleasure, tension and physicality. Finally, Camille Vivier creates a fictional, feminine world of contrasts. With images shot in Geneva and the forest of Fontainbleu.
