Fomapan is known for being the budget option when it comes to black and white film. Often overlooked, this Czech Republic made film is a good alternative to its more popular rivals. It comes in three speeds; 100, 200 and 400. So, we put a roll of Fomapan 200 in the Lecia M6 to see how it measures up.

Fomapan 200 is commonly understood to be a different emulsion compared to the 100 and 400 ISO versions. This theory is certainly backed up by the results we got. It has more balanced contrast than the 400 ISO and a grain structure distinctive from the 100 and 400 ISO. Additionally, it gave us a nice complete range of tones.

It is somewhat of a rarity to have a 200 ISO black and white film. Rollei Superpan 200 and Ilford SFX 200 are the only other ones on the market. It makes a slightly more versatile option than the more widely available 100 ISO options.
