Fourth Kodak ColorPlus 200 Film Review
Here is our fourth Kodak ColorPlus 200 Film Review. We shot a roll on our Yashica T4. So, have a look at our film test and see what you think.
As well as being our most popular colour film, Kodak Colorplus 200 is also our cheapest. We may have reviewed it a few times before – here, here and here – but we thought we’d load up a fresh roll in our Yashica T4 and take it out around Camberwell in South London.
Muted Tones
Generally considered a budget film, we think ColorPlus should be appreciated for more than just its price. A film with muted tones, it has less contrast and saturation than films like Kodak Gold and Ultramax. This gives the images a softer, retro feel in comparison.
Cheaper films tend to work best with a lot of light. You won’t hold too much detail in the shadows, particularly on a dull day. However, Colorplus still performs well on overcast days. These images were taken on a typical grey Autumn day in London and captured the mood well. The desaturated colours give these images a dreamy look.
Obviously, you won’t get the sharpness or detail of a professional film with ColorPlus. But, it does have a unique look all of its own, which is why it’s a film we keep coming back to. If you haven’t shot it yet, give it a go!
