Film Developing – Chemicals and Equipment

This is where you will find everything you need for film processing. Want to Develop Film At Home? Have a look at our list with all the equipment.

As well as all the film you could possibly want we also sell all the chemicals and equipment you need to process it by yourself (or to give to a friend to process it with you).

What are the three chemicals used in the darkroom?

The three main chemicals you need to develop film are Developer, Stop and Fix. We would also add Wetting Agent, especially if you’re area has hard water.

Film Developers

That means you have a choice of developers from all the major brands; Foma, Ilford, Kodak and Tetenal. After you have chosen your developer you will want stop and fix. We’ve got those too. We would always recommend wetting agent to keep drying marks off our negs. Again, you’ve got a choice.

Film Processing Equipment

Once you’ve chosen your chemicals, next on the list is equipment. A Paterson tank is a must. Alongside your tank you will need measuring jugs and graduates. Don’t forget a thermometer, you need to know what temperature your developer is before you start.
