Ilford HP5 Plus 400 Film

Ilford HP5 Plus 400 is a high speed, medium contrast film. This is one of our most popular films and a black and white classic.

It is particularly suitable for action and press photography. Also an excellent choice for general purpose photography. Basically, you can’t go wrong with HP5.

Nominally rated at ISO 400. HP5 will yield negatives of outstanding sharpness and fine grain under all lighting conditions.

Additionally, HP5 Plus 400 has a formula that will respond well to push processing. Film speeds up to EI 3200/36 are achievable. Ilford Microphen developer is a good choice for push processing. The developer will help hold good shadow detail and well-separated mid-tones with sharp grain. If you want to know more about ISO then read our Guide To Film Speed. Then, read our Guide to Pushing And Pulling Film.
