Ilford Ilfotec DD-X Film Developer 1L
Ilford Ilfotec DD-X Film Developer is a liquid concentrate black and white film developer.
Specifically made to complement the Ilford Delta range of films. You will get a good balance of fine grain, sharpness, and tones. So, you get negatives which are easy to print and will allow for a high degree of enlargement.
If you shoot film at box speed and develop in Ilfotec DDX you will get a full range of tones. There will be depth in the shadows, a smooth transition through the mid-tones, as well as bright highlights that hold detail.
This bottle will effectively give you 5L of working solution developer.
Typically Ilfotec DD-X is used one-shot to get the highest image quality. For greater economy, it can be reused but image quality may be reduced. Pushing film is not recommended when using reused developers.

How To Use
As it is a concentrate, you dilute it to make a working solution. To prepare Ilford Ilfotec DD-X, dilute 1+4. That means one part developer to four parts water. This is perfect for one-shot use. Make sure you mix together thoroughly before use.

This developer is designed for Ilford Delta film, and does indeed work extremely well with them. It’s not ideal for pushing and pulling, and I’ve not had super amazing results. Also whilst it is possible to reuse the developer – usually the limit is about 4 or 5 films for 1L of solution in a given session before it starts degrading, in my experience. You can’t keep the made up solution for very long (about a week is about as long as I’ve kept without it seriously degrading the quality of the negatives). Given the cost, and that it’s (mostly) one shot, it’s not terribly economical. But, it does produce excellent negatives when conditions are right.
