Description

Ilford Ilfotec LC29 Film Developer 500ml

Ilford Ilfotec LC29 Film Developer is a liquid concentrate black and white film developer. Similar to Ilford Ilfotec HC, it isn’t as highly concentrated and is made for small volume film processing.

Ilfotec LC29 is easy to use and economical, making it ideal for beginners. Perfect for use with a wide range of black and white films. It will produce fine grain negatives with good sharpness and image quality.

You have a choice of dilutions, 1+9, 1+19 and 1+29. A working strength solution at 1+29 should be used as a one-shot developer. You use it once and discarded it. For the highest image quality, dilutions 1+9 and 1+19 should also be used as one–shot. However, for greater economy, they can be reused but image quality may be reduced. Pushing film is not recommended when using reused developers.

Film Reviews

We’ve used LC29 in a few of our Black And White Film Reviews. You can see our results here.

How To Use

As it is a concentrate, you dilute it to make a working solution. To prepare Ilford Ilfotec LC29, dilute 1+9. That means one part developer to nine parts water. Or, use a common dilution which is 1+19. So that is one part developer to nineteen parts water. Additionally, you can dilute 1+29. That is one part concentrate developer to twenty-nine parts water. The different dilution will give varying results. Always make sure you mix together thoroughly before use.

This will greatly reduce the risk of drying marks left on film after development. You should use it as a final rinse before you hang your film up to dry. It will allow the film to dry in a more uniform fashion and thus prevent the marks.
  • Ilford Ilfostop Stop Bath 500ml
Ilford Ilfostop is a low odour, citric acid stop bath. After development, we recommend that you rinse films and papers in an acid stop bath. This will stop development immediately. A stop bath will also neutralise the developer to help maintain the activity of the fixer bath.
  • Fomafix Rapid Fixer 500ml
Fomafix Rapid Fixer is a hardening rapid fixer. Ideal for both film and paper. This is a liquid concentrate that you dilute with water for use. Making it is easy and convenient to use.
